Strawberry Pretzel Salad is layers of salty-sweet goodness. Versatile - Strawberry Pretzel Salad can be served as a salad or dessert. Crusted pretzels & butter make up the crust with a creamy tang filling, and topped with a sweet and fruity strawberry top, resulting in a unique combination of flavors and textures.

Ingredients

• 2 cups pretzels, crushed
• 4½ tablespoons white sugar
• ¾ cup butter, melted
• 2 packages (8 ounce each) cream cheese, softened
• 1 cup white sugar
• 1 container (8 ounce) frozen whipped cream, thawed
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 2 cups boiling water
• 1 package (6 ounce) or 2 packages (3 ounce each) strawberry flavored gelatin
• 1 lb. fresh strawberries, stemmed and sliced or 1 package (16 ounce) frozen strawberries, thawed

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F / 177°C.
2. Grease 13x9-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
3. In a medium bowl mix together pretzels, melted butter, and 4½ tbsp. sugar until well combined.
4. Press pretzel misture into the bottom of a 13x9-inch baking dish.
5. Bake for 10 minutes, or until lightly toasted. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely (very important) for about 30 minutes.
6. In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
7. Fold in whipped topping and spread evenly over the cooled crust. Refrigerate until set, about 30-60 minutes.
8. In a second large bowl, add boiling water and stir in gelatin mix. Mix in strawberries.
9. Carefully spoon strawberries mixture over cream cheese mixture layer.
10. Refrigerate until completely chilled for 2-3 hours minimum or overnight.
